You get that from a 1700W element packed into an 870mm-long tube. If your machine runs cycle after cycle and the heat has to be there instantly, this is exactly the kind of component you’d specify.
Power, Voltage, and Geometry—Why It Matters
The 1700W rating isn’t just a number. It’s about packing serious heat into a small footprint, so you get real energy into the target area without needing a giant housing. And the 870mm length? Not random. It lines up with common industrial heating zones and gives you a nice, even spread of irradiance along the line of sight. That means it can slide right in as a replacement when you’re upgrading an existing line. Electrically, it’s designed to match standard industrial supply. Wire it to the rated voltage, and the filament is matched to run within its intended temperature window. If you run it on the wrong voltage, output drops and the lamp life shortens. Overvoltage pushes the element hotter, which speeds up filament wear. Keep it in the right zone, and it behaves itself.
Materials and Design: The Details That Keep It Working
We use clear quartz for the tube because it can handle high heat and doesn’t flinch when it’s heated and cooled again and again. It also transmits near-infrared cleanly, so more of the energy goes where you aim it—no wasted effort. The halogen fill is the secret to staying consistent. It supports the tungsten re-deposition cycle, which reduces blackening and keeps output steady over time. You don’t have to watch the performance fade as the hours add up. For the end fit, we built around the R7s/Sk15 family of double-ended end caps. It locks in solidly in the lamp holder and keeps the tube aligned inside the reflector. That matters in a production machine. Vibration and thermal cycling can shift a tube that isn’t held right, and even a little misalignment can cut heating performance. This fit keeps it where it needs to be.
Where It Shines—And What to Keep in Mind
This setup is a natural fit when you need fast, line-of-sight heating—plastic forming, curing, drying, that kind of work. The near-infrared output hits surfaces fast, and the quartz envelope keeps response quick. You get fast start-up, stable output while the machine is running, and a component that can handle the repeated starts and stops that come with real production cycles. Now, here’s the trade-off: packing 1700W into an 870mm tube creates serious heat density. That means your machine’s cooling and shielding have to be planned properly. If you don’t manage the local environment, you can overheat nearby components or create an unsafe work area. Plan your mounting, airflow, and reflector geometry so both the lamp and the surrounding equipment stay within their thermal limits.
