The 300mm tube length concentrates that infrared energy, so you can match the heating pattern exactly to the part you’re working on. Going with 400V helps keep the current draw down, but it does mean your control gear and wiring need to be rated for that higher voltage. The wattage and length aren’t chosen at random. They’re a team that sets the energy flux and the beam spread. Want faster ramp-up? Crank up the wattage within the same length. Need more even coverage? Adjust the spacing or switch to a different tube length. It’s all about matching the tool to the task.
The Good Stuff: Materials and Design
The quartz envelope is the workhorse. It handles the thermal shock of rapid on/off cycles and lets that shortwave infrared energy get through efficiently. Inside, the halogen cycle keeps the filament clean. This is what gives you stable output over the life of the lamp and keeps it from burning out prematurely.
