
Getting the Heat Where it Actually Matters
When it comes to heating for horses, just warming the skin doesn’t do much. To actually help a horse recover, you need the heat to sink deep into the muscle. That’s where we spent all our time in the lab. We wanted to move past those old-school European lamps that everyone just accepts as “the standard.”
Getting deeper into the muscle
Most infrared lamps just blast energy at the surface. It feels warm on the outside, but it stops right there. We did things differently. We tweaked the tungsten filament and the gas pressure inside the bulb to shift the heat into the medium-wave range. Why? Because that’s the sweet spot for penetration. Instead of wasting energy on the surface, the heat actually reaches the deeper tissue.It’s about putting the warmth where the horse actually feels the relief.
Built to last, not burn out
You’ve probably seen those lamps that get dark or dim over time. That happens when the tungsten evaporates and cakes onto the glass. To stop that, we used heavy-wall quartz glass. It keeps the halogen cycle stable, so the light stays clear and the heat stays consistent. Plus, we beefed up the end-caps. When things get really hot, the last thing you want is a seal popping.
A few things to keep in mind
These are designed to be simple drop-in replacements for your existing high-end gear. We kept the wattage precise so you don’t have to worry about tripping a breaker. But here is the catch: because we’re packing more heat into a small space, the glass tube itself gets very hot. Make sure your reflector housing has plenty of breathing room. If the air can’t move, the tube will overheat, and your filament won’t last nearly as long. If you’re installing these in a tight stall, I’d strongly suggest adding a thermal cutoff. Just to be safe.
