It keeps the heat even across the whole piece, so you don’t end up with those annoying “hot spots” that warp your plastic or scorch your coatings. A quick heads-up on the power. At 220V, each lamp pulls about 7.27 amps. That doesn’t sound like much on its own, but when you’ve got a whole bank of these things firing at once? It adds up fast. Just make sure your wiring and contactors are beefy enough to handle the total load. You don’t want to find out the hard way that your cables are undersized. Why the quartz and halogen mix? We use a high-purity quartz tube filled with halogen gas. Here’s the secret: the halogen cycle stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and sticking to the walls. Basically, it keeps the tube from turning black. That means the light keeps streaming through clearly, and you get heat almost the second you flip the switch. It’s a drop-in replacement for standard IR tubes, but it’s way faster to get up to temperature. A few things to watch out for. These lamps are intense. They’ll heat your workpiece in a flash, but they’ll also heat up your oven chassis. If your cooling fans aren’t up to the task, the air around your sockets will get way too hot. That’s a recipe for burnt-out insulation or sockets that give up the ghost way too early. And one last tip:keep your reflectors clean. A little bit of dust on those mirrors might seem harmless, but it absorbs the energy instead of bouncing it. It kills your efficiency and makes the whole system work harder than it needs to.
