If you’re chasing that high-end, mirror-like finish on flooring, it all comes down to one thing: how you cure your glue. If it’s too slow or uneven, you’re in trouble. We built our IR heaters to hit the exact spot where veneer adhesives react. The goal is to set the bond instantly without accidentally cooking the wood fibers.
Why some finishes look “off”
Here’s the thing: surface gloss usually fails because the heat goes too deep or hangs around too long. That’s how you end up with warped veneer or those annoying little glue bubbles. We use short-wave infrared emitters to keep the energy right on the surface. It creates a “flash-off” effect. It’s fast. Really fast. You get a hard, flat cure that looks like a pricey import, but without the import price tag.
The gear and the power
These units are built for the chaos of a high-throughput factory. We use high-purity quartz tubes because they let the heat through without blocking it. You can play around with the wattage and focal length to control the heat flux. Basically, you can dial it in perfectly depending on how thick your glue is. But a heads-up on the electrics: this kind of IR output pulls a lot of power. If you’re running 10kW+ across a short bank, make sure your wiring can handle the surge. You don’t want to be tripping breakers every time you flip the switch.
Fitting them in and keeping them running
We made these as drop-in replacements. They fit the standard footprints of the old systems you’re probably already using, and the connectors are industrial-grade so you don’t have to worry about arcing. There is one catch, though: you have to keep them clean. Because these lamps get incredibly hot, a single speck of dust or a tiny splatter of glue on the quartz tube will burn right in. That creates a “hot spot.” If you leave it, the tube will burn out way too soon. Just give them a quick wipe-down with isopropyl alcohol once a week. It keeps the heat even across the board and keeps your production line moving.
