Stop the Constant Lamp Swaps on Your SIG Blomax Line
If you’re running a SIG Blomax line and you feel like you’re replacing tubes every other week, you aren’t alone. Usually, it comes down to a simple problem: the lamps just can’t handle the heat stress of a fast production cycle. They snap. They burn out. It’s a headache. That’s why we rebuilt the replacement lamps for the KOSME KSB 4000. We wanted something that could actually take the beating of a real factory floor.
Getting the Heat Right
Here’s the thing about the KSB 4000. If your wattage or voltage is even a little bit off, your PET preforms won’t hit that sweet spot—the glass transition temperature—before they’re blown. The result? You get “cold spots” or walls that are way too thin in some places. It ruins the batch. Our lamps are a direct drop-in. They fit the original footprint exactly. That means the infrared heat hits the target zone right where it should, and you don’t have to spend hours messing around with the reflectors just to get the alignment right.
Built to Actually Last
Most standard lamps fail at the pinch seal or the connectors. They just can’t handle the rapid jumping from cold to scorching hot. We fixed that by using aheavy-wall quartz envelopeand beefing up the end-caps. It makes the lamp tougher. We also tweaked the internal filament geometry. Why? Because at peak temps, filaments tend to sag. When they sag, your heat distribution gets wonky. Our design keeps everything straight and consistent across the whole tube.
A Quick Word of Caution
Now, these are high-output lamps. They give you the heat density you need to keep the line moving fast, but they do put more pressure on your cooling system. If you decide to crank up the wattage to squeeze out more throughput, just double-check your blower motors and heat exchangers. If your lamp housing overheats, it doesn’t matter how tough the quartz is—the lamp will still die early. But once you’ve got your cooling dialed in, these are ready to go. Just wire them up, flip the switch, and get back to work. No more wasting your shift on constant swaps.
