
Stop Guessing with Your SIPA Oven Heating
If you’ve ever run a SIPA rotary machine, you know the headache of uneven preform heating. One minute everything is fine, and the next, you’ve got cold spots that mess up your bottle walls. Most of the time, the culprit is “near-match” replacement lamps. On a spec sheet, a 5% difference in wattage looks like nothing. In the real world? It’s a disaster. It throws off your entire thermal profile and sends your scrap rates climbing. Getting the power right We don’t do “close enough.” We build our replacement lamps to hit 100% power parity with the original Aoki specs. Here’s why that matters: when the resistance and wattage are a perfect match, your oven behaves. You won’t have to spend your afternoon fiddling with PID controllers every single time a tube burns out. You just swap it and get back to work. The details that actually matter We use high-purity quartz because these lamps take a beating with constant rapid cycling. They need to handle that thermal shock without cracking. Then there’s the fit. We use R7s or SK15 connectors depending on your machine’s age so they just slide right in. If a lamp fits loosely, you get arcing. And arcing fries your sockets. It’s a messy, expensive fix that we avoid by keeping our tolerances tight. A quick reality check Now, here is the catch. High-wattage shortwave lamps are great for fast cycle times, but they put a ton of pressure on your reflection chambers. If your reflectors are pitted or covered in grime, even the most perfect lamp won’t save you. You’ve got to keep those reflectors clean to actually push that heat into the PET. Stop gambling with “compatible” parts. Stick with a direct power match, keep your temperatures steady, and stop throwing away good plastic.
